Philo Experiences

Philo Experiences are designed for families who want something meaningful, flexible, and grounded in real life. Each experience offers a window into the Philo approach, hands-on, outdoors, and deeply connected to the world around us.

Farm & Field

Farm & Field is a 6-week, once-a-week drop-off experience where learners ages 7–13 engage in real, hands-on work rooted in nature, responsibility, and curiosity.

This is not a traditional class.
There are no desks, no busywork, and no disconnected lessons.

Instead, learners spend their mornings:

  • caring for animals

  • working with the land

  • observing, building, and exploring

  • engaging in meaningful conversations and reflection

Each day is intentionally designed to connect real-life experiences with deeper learning, building confidence, independence, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Whether it’s feeding goats, preparing garden beds, or simply noticing the patterns of the natural world, learners begin to understand how their actions matter and how they fit into something bigger.

What They Gain

Through Farm & Field, learners develop:
  • Confidence through real responsibility
  • A connection to nature and where things come from
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Collaboration and communication within a mixed-age group
  • A sense of ownership over their learning
